After decades of enthusiastically giving Los Angeles tours to out-of-town friends and family, and even co-authoring a walking guide to the city, I'm all too aware that things have changed.Recent guests have been stunned by the tent encampments, sidewalks piled with debris and shuttered storefronts I see daily.

Friday night was another loss in a long line of frustration coming from the Dodgers this season.The pitching, especially the bullpen, has been uncharacteristically poor and has caused the team to drop quite a few games that they should have won.However, the story of the game wasn't just the team blowing a 4-0 lead to the rival San Francisco Giants but rather, the story of how rookie pitcher Emmet Sheehan shut down San Francisco while making his Major League debut.

Former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Joe Kelly made his return to Dodger Stadium during a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox, which was also a chance to see teammates from the 2018 Boston Red Sox World Series roster.Prior to signing with the Dodgers, Kelly spent four and a half seasons with the Red Sox after they acquired him in the summer of 2014.

Zach Remillard walked into the visiting clubhouse at Dodger Stadium on Thursday as a major-leaguer for the first time."I don't know that it's hit me yet," Remillard said before the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers."Some things haven't really settled in."
Remillard moved up from Triple-A Charlotte when the Sox placed Yoan Moncada on the injured list with lower back inflammation.

Clayton Kershaw has routinely stated solo home runs will not lead to a loss, which held partially true Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers lost 8-4 to the Chicago White Sox.Kershaw did not factor into the decision.He was coming off back-to-back strong performances after struggling throughout most of May, and his outing against the White Sox landed in the middle.

There seems to have been a mix up at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.When Dave Roberts spoke to reporters about his injured third baseman, he said that Max Muncy was dealing with a "Grade 2 strain" in his hamstring.However, he also said Muncy would not be going on the injured list, which didn't make much sense considering Grade 2 hamstring strains would take over a month to heal.

Dodgers rookie pitcher Bobby Miller continues to take the league and organization by storm.It's his world and we are all just living in it.He's received praise from opposing teams managers, teammates, Dave Roberts and now Dodgers President of Baseball Operations, Andrew Friedman."Obviously, this is as good as we could have asked for," Friedman said.

The Chicago White Sox saw environmental concerns firsthand last week in New York.The city was under a haze because of smoke carried down from wildfires burning in Canada."Insane, it was like orange outside," starter Lucas Giolito told the Tribune on Friday.The team's scheduled game on Wednesday against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium was postponed because of what Major League Baseball called "clearly hazardous air quality."
